| VoIP SoftPhone |
"Softphone" is just a tech term referring to a type of software that enables you to make 5PCom VoIP calls from your laptop or PC. NOTE: We offer X-Lite as a FREE download when you sign-up for softphone with us, and it's very easy to install on your system. If you already have a favorite software, you can probably use it with our service too. Any SIP based softphone application will work fine (Click here to sign up for VoIP Softphone now.) There are several options for this. You could use a headset with built-in mic, a voip or IP phone that plugs into your computer via USB port, or a wireless VoIP phone. (any VoIP phone device would need to be "SIP enabled" to be compatible with 5PCom's service, as is the case with most VoIP service providers.) In addition, you'll need a highspeed internet connection, as always with VoIP. And thats it! With the above items at hand, and an active account at 5PCom, you will be up and running with softphone in no time. It only takes about 10 minutes to place your order. You will be emailed your temporary phone number right away, and your permanent number within 1 business day. Just remember that after you sign up online, in order to start using Softphone , you'll need to make a quick call to our tech support to get your softphone password, and this is of course is just for your own protection. Install your new softphone service on your laptop so you can take your VoIP service with you on the road. You can simply turn on your laptop, plug in a broadband connection (or just connect via WiFi) and you can now call anywhere in the world with the same low rates you have at home. No more paying outrageous long distance charges at your hotel, or burning mobile minutes. Or, if you prefer, just use softphone on your laptop or home desktop PC, instead of traditional home phone service. This is perfect for people living in compact environments (students in dorms, urban professionals living in lofts, flats, condos, and apartments, or people who just feel that "less is more" where electronics and cables are concerned.) |
