Softphone Ninja Succeeds X-Lite

For all of you softphone users and fans out there currently using X-LIte, there has been an "upgrade". Xten / Global IP Tel has launched it's latest softphone application, Ninja,  replacing X-Lite.

Global IP published a press release on September 14, 2007 announcing it's new softphone creation, touting improved functionality, more features and a smoother menu navigation interface.

Softphone Ninja, latest successor to X-Lite

For those as yet unfamiliar asking  "What is this softphone he speaks of?" In a nutshell, softphone turns your PC or notebook / laptop comuter into an inexpensive phone line, provided it is connected to a broadband internet connection. You can use a headset with mic (or the mic integrated into your notebook, for example) or simply plug in a SIP enabled (and properly configured) voip phone to your system's USB port (another example.)

As you can imagine, softphone makes a great and inexpensive secondary (or even primary) phone line for your home or home office, your college student 's dorm, or for when you are working remotely, traveling, etc.

As you may be wondering, 5PCom offers softphone as an option for any of it's plans, and it actually the most inexpensive option for starting up your voip service. That is because it requires no hardware device (ATA adapter, router, or hub etc.) and therefore, no hardware deposit required. The "service charge" for the software is  magically and instantaneously erased with our "instant rebate" which is a long-winded way of saying, we give you the softphone option with absolutely no charge other than your monthly subscription price (at this time.) In fact, up until they released Ninja, we provided our customers a free download of X-Lite, soon to be replaced with the free version of Ninja.....but I digress.

Anyway, I will spare you the hyped marketing lingo used by Global IP in their official release, and just suffice to list the features of Ninja (Lite) followed by the feature list for it's "big brother"  Ninja Pro, for anyone researching advanced, business grade multi-network conferencing capability. Most residential or small business voip users will do fine with the free version (and I am still looking for a published feature list for that one - stay tuned.)
