Some very, very interesting information has emerged regarding the recent shut-down / bankruptcy of Sunrocket. It appears that in a recent press release, and perhaps other communication, that Teleblend has emerged on the scene to announce it's company as the preferred replacement VoIP provider for Sunrocket. One small problem seems to be... who is "Teleblend"? Thanks to Tom Keating over at TMCnet, an answer to that question has begun to emerge (I strongly suggest you read his entire post, including the update down at the bottom , if you are at all affected by the recent Sunrocket shut down.) Tom astutely observed that the contact numbers for both Sunrocket and Teleblend differ by only one digit, which begged the question about whether this was a manuver by SR to elude debt via bankruptcy and relaunch under a different name. However, his research into the matter uncovered ever more interesting information about Teleblend. Apparently, the company is owned by Unified Communications (reported by the Wall Street Journal as having taken over Sunrocket operations.) What's more, Unified is based in Singapore, is publicly held, and their stocks currently trade for a whopping....14 cents. Whether you call me biased or not, I have to agree with Tom's sentiment: " So let me summarize here. They aren't based in the U.S., they are a penny stock, and they haven't updated their website since 2006. Yeah, I'll trust switching to Teleblend all right." |
